Yay for Rain and Mudslides

We had a big pop-up shower this afternoon.  Not complaining because we totally needed the rain.  All my procrastination and almost talking myself out of running, ended up working in my favor because by the time I start (7:00 pm) the rain had almost stopped, cooled the temps and just ended up being a really nice run!

As for the Mudslides....I am talking drink and I am talking lo-cal drink...its a recipe from Hungry-Girl...it is so so so so good.  Seriously...it might be my drink choice of summer.

I am going to try to merge this running blog with my weight loss blog.  I am following/doing the challenges on the Sisterhood site (see right side of my blog for button).  I won't post my weight per se...but will post a + or - as far as weight.  I hope to officially weigh every Wednesdsay...but hey, get real.  I am a freakin' scale-o-holic.  I weigh every.single.day.

The reason for all this weight loss is because when I ran my last marathon, 3 years ago, I was about 30 pounds less.  Yep.  That's right.  30 pounds!  I can totally feel it.  And my pace in my runs feels it.  And when my running shorts don't fit it more...well, that feels it too.  Everything.  I have resorted to wearing cycling type tights under shorts....so its offically "on".  Since I have started this new blog, I have found other bloggers who are doing the same thing as me.  And it is exactly what I need right now.

So, yay for rain and mudslides (the lo-cal kind).

it wiped me out

The heat that is.  And I didn't even run that far or long.  I started with the group Saturday at 6:15.  The temps felt fine but it was the humidity...I mean, you couldn't breathe.  I got in a nice, solid 4 mile run with an extra mile of walking at the end to cool down.  Then, I got home, showered and decided the couch would be the best place with Wimbledon on tv.  I was there for the next 3-4 hours!  I couldn't get up.  The heat just wiped me out.  ugh.

No running today but I do have tennis on the schedule. 2:30. in the heat.

In with the New...

New running peeps, that is.
I needed some motivation to run today.  So, I met up with a group from our track club.  Its a new "group" run night.  Since I have been out of the loop for a few years now, I don't know a lot of the new runners so I took the plunge and just showed up.  So glad I did.  Met some nice nice people and ran a route I hadn't thought of before.  Plus, it was shaded the whole way!

I plan on running with the Thursday night group for a while.  Good run.  Good people.

guilty...

I thought today was going to be a cross training day.  I get to the tennis courts to play doubles at 9 this morning.  One of the four didn't show because she forgot.  I volunteered to step out to let the other two hit singles.  I had some errands to run and this gave me perfect timing to do so.

Got this BIG monkey of an errand off my back and rested/watched Wimbledon the rest of the afternoon.

So, since I didn't play tennis, I had all good intentions of going to the group run this evening (right now, in fact). I even went so far as to get out all the running clothes and even put on a running top.  Then, it all fizzled and I decided that I want to got eat Mexican instead.

No Ivy

Yee-ha!  Woke up this morning and no poison ivy.  Guess it was just a bug bite that swelled up yesterday!  So, all is well.

Started my run at 7:30 this morning with a plan of running 3.  Well, I felt so good that I added another half-mile of running and half-mile of walking.  So, I got 4 in total.  Good Stuff!

Then, I made my way to the library and pool this afternoon.

Awesome summer day!

Monday Monday

I am so freakin' glad that I have a "vitrual" training partner this week.  Dr. Ann went to work at camp this week and I needed some motivation so we scheduled times to "meet" virtually.  Then, we email after our run.  Day 1 was successful.

I got in 3 this morning...was hot but not oppressive yet.

Ran errands this afternoon and my car read 100 at one point. Needless to say, I am so thankful I dragged myself out of bed to slog this morning.

Worked in the yard this evening.  I was all stressed that I had shorts on instead of pants.  We are clearing out an overgrown space to start a garden.  My hubby was all telling me that it would be ok.  And what do you know...I think I got the poison ivy.  I have never had it before.  This little spot on my lower leg sure doesn't look like a bug bite. hmmm....I am stressing.

Saturday's Run

Whoa...the heat was in full force this morning.  I met Amy at 8:00 this morning.  I know I need to start earlier but I am just not there yet.  I covered about 5.6 miles with close to 4.25 in running.  The rest was walking.  It was sooooo hot that I was okay with that.  Felt a bit nauseated at the end.  Got my Iced Skinny Vanilla Latte as my post-run treat but it is still sitting in the fridge.  Just didn't have the stomach to drink it.  Now, that's how hot is was.

Been slack the rest of the day.  I am about to get my nap on.  Right on.

Lawdy, it is HOT

I didn't get up as early as I planned.  I pittled around and waited until after 10 to out for my run.
H.O.T. spellis what is was. OMG. I had to take a few breaks towards the end but it got done.

Then, I got to to the dollar movie with a friend and now we are about to go to dinner.
No guilt about not running...its a good thing.

p.s.  the dollar movie where we are has new seats and carpet!  It was so gross before that you had to take a jacket or towel to sit on...but we still went. why? cause its a dollar!!  And now....let's just say...niiice.

Tennis and Pool Day

Legs were a bit sore from running and Bun Shaper yesterday so I played 2 hours of doubles and hit the pool.  Running on tap for tomorrow and Saturday.

Early run

With the threat of pop-up showers and miserable heat, Ann and I decided on a nice morning run. We began at 7 at the Shak and followed the 5 mile loop. It was a great run. I brought water and had to take a quick water break at 2.10 but only stopped for just a bit and then finished the 3 miles of running. We walked an additional 2. Great Run today but man, my legs are feeling it.

About to do Power Half Hour buns to strengthen my hips.

And then have another cup o' Joe.

New Blog-First Post

This is always the difficult part. I have put it off all day.
Getting started.
The first post, the first writing is always so hard. But, alas, here I am.

I accidentally deleted my old blog. I thought I was just deleting an old email account but it deleted the blog with it. I have been a bit sad about it. I mean, I blogged about running and Boards and life for 3 years or so there and ...*poof* its gone. I emailed Google about it....but I am not sure they will un-delete my account. oh well.

such is life.

Onto the new. A new beginning. A new start. All fresh.

I am officially on the road again....yes, you can sing that good old Willie song if you must. I started my comeback a few weeks ago. My dear friend, Ann, has been gracious enough to help me. I started with a mile.

And today...I ran 3!!! All.By.My.Self.
Its funny saying that. But its been 3 years since my last marathon and ANY running of ANY sort. 3 years!!! I have played lots and lots of tennis...even making it to the finals in state playoffs last summer with one of my teams. but no running.

I have another blog I am starting today...but its private. Why? Because its for myself. Its an accountability for weight loss. You see, since that last marathon....I have put about 30 pounds on and man, it sux.

So, for now, the weighloss blog is personal.

But, I welcome any positive vibes about the running!
I signed up for the St. Jude Marathon in December....Bring it!!! I am ready!!
